FUTURO (WILL)

¿Cuándo lo uso?

 

1. Decisiones (decisions)

 Cuando tomo una decisión mientras estoy hablando, sin planearlo previamente.

“Decisión en el momento en que se habla” es una acción que realizaré como consecuencia de un estado actual. Entonces, mi estado actual es “tengo sed” y mi decisión es que “voy a beber agua”. Esta decisión (tomar agua) fue tomada NO AYER, NO ESTA MAÑANA, sino en este PRECISO  MOMENTO por lo tanto debo utilizar WILL así: I am thirsty, I will drink water. 

2. Predicciones (predictions)

Una predicción es una idea que tenemos de algo que va a ocurrir en el futuro. Utilizamos WILL para hacer predicciones con base en lo que pensamos. Por ejemplo,  si yo pienso o creo que la vida será más fácil en el futuro uso WILL:

–I think / I believe life will be easier in the future.
Podemos utilizar las expresiones “I think (pienso que)” o “I believe (creo que)” par acompañar las oraciones.  Otros ejemplos:
-I believe she will be a great mother. (Creo que ella será una buena mamá)
-He thinks he will win the race. (Él piensa que va a ganar la carrera)
-I believe I won´t pass the exam. (Creo que no voy a pasar el examen)

3. Promesas (promises):

También utilizamos WILL para hacer promesas; ejemplos:
-She will help you tomorrow (Ella te va a ayudar mañana).
-I will love you forever.  (Te voy a amar para siempre).
  
¿Cómo lo pronuncio?

• Will /wɪl/
• Will not /wɪl nɒt/
• Won’t /wəʊnt/

Nota: es importante que tengas cuidado con la pronunciación de “won’t” ya que casi siempre los hablantes del español comentemos errores con esta pronunciación porque decimos una “o”. Sin embargo, en esta palabra la vocal “o” suena parecido a una /ou/, entonces pronuncia así: /wount/

Hoy es el día del libro, el día de San Jordi... Os dejo aquí una pequeña lectura con diferentes tiempos verbales a ver quien es capaz de entenderla y traducirla!!!!

Hello! My name is Michelle. I am 36 years old, single and I work in a Bank in New York City in the finance department. I love working there because it is very interesting and the people I work with are very nice. I was born in Philadelphia but moved to New York 6 years ago. I don’t regret it at all. New York is a fascinating city. There is so much to do here: museums, theatres, nightclubs, stores, restaurants, etc.

I love eating at different restaurants. There are a variety of restaurants here because people from all over the world come to live and work in New York City. My favorite food is Korean food. They make the best barbecue pork in the world. The food is cooked right in front of you on a stove and there are a variety of vegetarian side dishes that come with it. That makes it really healthy. I also enjoy eating Italian, Indian and Chinese food.

On Friday nights and on the weekends I like to go to the theatre. I love watching plays. When I was little I wanted to be an actress, but most actors are poor and I like having money. On the weekend I cook or I go to restaurants with friends. I am also taking a class in French, which I enjoy very much. I think it is important to keep learning new things as long as you can. Since moving to New York I have taken classes in cooking, ballroom dancing and swimming. If there is anything you want to learn, there is a place in New York where you can learn it.

New York is also a great place to meet other single people. I don’t have much time to date but I am seeing someone I met at the French class that I attend. His name is Alex and we have been going out for a year now. We have a lot of interests in common. We both love the theatre, trying different kinds of cuisine, and we share a passion for the French language and culture. I hope that next year, we will be able to go to France and tour the wine regions. I have always wanted to visit Paris but never had anyone to go with. I haven’t introduced Alex to my family yet but we are going to visit them this weekend. I hope they don’t mind that Alex is not Jewish. Oh well, we’ll find out soon enough.
